Class: Kids Summer Sewing Camp
This 4 day sewing series is designed to teach kids how to sew with fun, hands-on projects. The first session will focus on how to operate a sewing machine, including winding a bobbin and threading the machine. Students will complete a basic sewing project each day, learning new sewing terms and techniques, while using different sewing tools along the way. Skills covered include measuring and cutting fabric, ironing, sewing straight seams, topstitching, French seams, and installing a zipper. The projects include a drawstring bag, tool roll, tote bag and zippered pouch
Skill Level: All Levels
Ages: 10-18
Supplies (not included):
- 1 yard each of two coordinating medium to heavy weight cotton fabrics. This can include quilting cotton, canvas, twill, denim, barkcloth, and light upholstery.
- Matching 100% polyester thread
- Size 12 or 14 universal sewing needle
- 6-9” zipper
- 2 yards of ¼ to ½” wide ribbon or twill tape
- Basic sewing tools will be provided, including: iron, rotary cutters, fabric scissors, cutting mats, pins/clips, fabric marking pens, and quilting rulers, but kids are free to bring their own supplies, if desired.

This class requires a minimum of 3 participants. The class may be subject to cancellation if the minimum enrollment is not achieved.
